WEEK 11 in the NFL: Things To Be Grateful For
Hello again sports fans. This is what it looks like at the end of week 11 of this season of outstanding professional football. Here are few things to be grateful for:
The Indianapolis Colts of the AFC South and the Chicago Bears of the NFC North have the best records in the sport with a dazzling 9-1-0. While theBaltimore Ravens, the leader in the AFC North and the San Diego Chargers, AFC West are tied for the next best records with both teams carrying 8-2-0.
Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Donovan McNabb is out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury. I am sure he is thankful it was not any worse. I’m sure fans of both Mc Nabb and the Eagles are happy it wasn’t any more serious an injury. Early in the second quarter of Sunday’s game in Philadelphia against the Tennessee Titans, McNabb tore a ligament, ( the anterior cruciate ligament-ACL), in his right knee following a play where he was bumped by Tennessee Titans defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch as he attempted to throw the ball when he approached the Titans sidelines. The pass was incomplete. McNabb immediately grabbed his injured right knee. He received some medical attention on the field before being taken off on a stretcher. McNabb will have surgery on his right knee to repair the ligament.
Said Philadelphia’s back-up QB Jeff Garcia, formerly of San Francisco, “It’s an unfortunate thing.” Garcia replaced Mc Nabb in the game on Sunday. “Donovan is a competitor, a leader and he was having a great season. He’ll be missed.” Without McNabb the Eagles were no match for the Titans who won the game 31-13.
(Hey Jeff Lurey you should have treated Terrell Owens better…it’s karma, dude.)
Speaking of karma former NFL star, turned actor, O.J. Simpson will not be reaping the monetary benefits, $3.5 million, of a widely promoted book and interview. So says media mogul Rupert Murdock who owns the Fox Television Network, who would have aired the interview show, and the publishing company that produced the book. I am grateful as are the families of the murdered people that finally someone at News Corp, Murdock’s media conglomerate, realized this idea could be in bad taste. We suggest the folks at Fox and Harper Collins/Regan and all of Murdock’s News Corp, including Murdock himself take a look at this for an idea for a television program I wish I had the funding I’d back a show idea like this with a quickness.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
